Electrocompaniet EC 5

After ten years of meticulous research and development, Electrocompaniet proudly presents its new reference preamplifier – the EC 5.

The EC 5 is a fully discrete dual-mono design operating in pure Class A, powered by independent, specialized power supplies dedicated to each channel, featuring multiple stages of noise filtering. Two 80 VA toroidal transformers and 15,000 μF of storage capacitance per channel ensure uncompromising performance under all operating conditions.

According to the manufacturer, the preamplifier maintains a constant signal-path length regardless of volume level, delivering unprecedented sonic transparency across over 900 steps of volume adjustment with ultra-precise 0.1 dB resolution.

With extreme technical parameters — including a frequency response of 0.5 Hz–450 kHz and a vanishingly low THD+N level of 0.0002% — the EC 5 represents the pinnacle of analog preamplifier design, where the electronics disappear and only the music remains.

The EC 5 also marks the return of the volume knob, now seamlessly integrated into the classic acrylic front panel, offering both tactile satisfaction and precise control.
Behind its elegant 7-inch color display lies a preamplifier conceived as the perfect command center for Electrocompaniet’s acclaimed AW300M and AW800M power amplifiers.
